A relative of one of Jeffrey Dahmer’s victims has spoken out about Netflix’s new obsession, Monster: The Story of Jeffrey Dahmer, “bringing back” their family.

The show – based on the real crime serial killer Dahmer – stars Mare in Easttown Actor Evan Peters, the man also known as the “Milwaukee Cannibal” and the “Milwaukee Monster”, committed the murders and dismemberments of 17 men and boys between 1978 and 1991.

Since it arrived on stage on 22 September, some have found the show’s gruesome scenes nauseating, with many angry viewers believing it to be romantic and glorifying the gruesome murders.

One courtroom scene went viral with a side-by-side comparison to the actual trial in 1992. In it, Rita Isbell (portrayed by DaShawn Barnes), the older sister of 19-year-old victim Errol Lindsey, was seen shouting loudly during her statement at the trial.

Lindsey was strangled to death after Dahmer’s alleged attempt to keep him in a permanent zombie state, by drilling holes in his head and dousing him with hydrochloric acid, failed.

“I’m not telling anyone what to watch. I know true crime media is huge right now, but if you’re really interested in the victims, my (Isbells) family is upset about this show,” one account said. called Ericthulu, tweeted on Thursday (22 September), along with the viral video.

“No my family is not happy,” he added. “RIP to my cousin Errol Lindsey and all the other victims.”

The Independent has reached out to Eric for comment.

“It’s amazing to watch someone else’s suffering. Especially on an international scale. It’s not easy because murder and true crime are so emotional,” actor Shaun Brown, who plays Tracy Edwards, admitted in a statement. posted on Twitter on Monday (21 September).

Edwards was Dahmer’s only surviving victim to successfully escape. He also played a role in the legal proceedings, which would ultimately convict Dahmer of his murder.
